About

Do we still have the courage to think in the age of AI? Can we imagine a politics that exceeds polarization and conflict? What does freedom mean beyond the exhausted language of self-improvement?

These are not just academic concerns. They shape how we work, relate, decide, and act today. The London School of Continental Philosophy was founded as a space where adult learners can meet in person, form a genuine intellectual community, and engage rigorously with contemporary thought - exploring how philosophy can clarify, enrich, and reframe the problems of our time.

The School is committed to widening access to contemporary philosophy at a moment when advanced study is increasingly confined within shrinking universities and rising tuition fees. It seeks to make serious intellectual work publicly available, creating pathways into complex thought for those who may not have institutional affiliation but share a commitment to sustained inquiry.

Founded by Dr. Daniel Weizman (PhD, Centre for Research in Modern European Philosophy), the School grew out of a belief that contemporary philosophy should be a living practice, open to everyone. Daniel
has taught extensively across London’s adult education landscape, exploring the ideas of major 20th- and 21st-century thinkers such as Gilles Deleuze, Michel Foucault, Louis Althusser, Jacques Derrida, Alain Badiou and Slavoj Žižek.

Our seminars are held in Central London and focus on close reading and open discussion. They provide a space for shared inquiry that welcomes both first time readers of philosophy and those with prior engagement. Each course connects philosophical questions to broader themes in culture, history, art, and technology, encouraging participants to discover how theory can illuminate contemporary life.

Beyond its regular seminars, the School plans to develop a public programme of talks and events, opening philosophy to a wider community of curious minds. In time, we also aim to publish a journal that offers a platform for emerging voices in philosophy and critical thought, guided by a spirit of openness, creativity, and intellectual curiosity.
